Understanding Domestic Violence and Abuse edition by Kelina Cowell Health Fitness Dieting eBooks
I found Kelina Cowell’s ‘Understanding Domestic Violence and Abuse’ soon after reading a memoir of a South African author who recalled how the abuse he had suffered during childhood negatively influenced the rest of his adult life. Make no mistake about it: domestic violence is a continuing kind of violence, and it can lead to a “branching out” of abusive acts if not met head-on. And thanks to Cowell’s book, there is finally hope in understanding how to deal with it.Cowell’s book is perhaps one of the most comprehensive books written on the issue. The author provides not only a helpful discussion of what is considered domestic violence and abuse (DVA), it also gives a lot of actionable information that readers can use right away to deal when a case of DVA is encountered—either in a professional or personal setting. What’s more, the book is written in that informative, yet intimate tone that keeps the reading experience refreshing and at times even entertaining. The included case studies are particularly enlightening—if you or if you suspect that a loved one may be suffering from such an abuse, at least you get a solid idea of the helpful steps to counter it.
Overall, this is a book that may become more and more relevant as years wear on—we see a rise in the cases of DVA, and the only way to stop this trend is by being fully informed about what DVA is and what to do about it. Understanding Domestic Violence and Abuse edition by Kelina Cowell Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
Two points.
1.The 5 star views on this book are fake, they were published by fake profiles that were created by the books author a couple of days before and bought 1 cheap item so the accounts could be used to review this book and surprise give it a glowing report.
2.Sadly this book takes the sexist view that women are always the only victims of domestic violence and that is very very far from the truth. The last government funded research concluded that it was a 50 / 50 split between male and female victims, sadly a fact the author never chose to research. Ultimately the book is full of fabricated feminist myths about DV being just a women issue and incorrectly tries to demonise all men as abusers. If you are looking for facts based on proper studies and something that at every turn does not attack men then look elsewhere because this is quite honestly horrible.
Wonderful book that touches the topic perfectly. More should be informed on things of this matter and you talked about it perfectly.
This book contains every lie about men that its possible to cram in a book. Shameless falsehoods and incorrect information. Feminist claptrap that serves only to feed the authors desire to attack men. Best avoided. Definite zero rating
This is an absolute appalling book.
Gender Feminist Dogma - packed with urban myths (eg 1 in 4 abused, "rule of thumb", etc etc).
This is NOT helpful to the debate.
Most DV is actually female perpetrated - with male on male relationships having the fewest offenders and female on female having by far the largest percentage of offenders.
If DV is a power thing, perpetrated ONLY (or almost ALWAYS) by male on female then explain those FACTS.
And talking of facts, exactly when did the likes of Woman's Aid become the oracle of non-feminist, balanced comment?
File under Fiction attempting to be Fact.
Go research for yourself rather than believe this tosh.
Oh, and if you think Domestic Violence is a GENDER ISSUE as this writer attempts to justify from front to back cover then please Google "Erin Pizzey" who just happened to open the first Woman's Shelter for Domestic Abuse Victims in the world to see what HER views of this book are.
Downloaded this as recommended by a colleague. A hard subject to read about but I'm glad I did. Enjoyed the case studies. I liked how their was different kinds of victims in each one, including men and teenagers, which I never really thought about before. Definitely opened my eyes.
I am really happy to collect this book and the topic of this book is related to the humanity. The author described every point in a simple but effective way. Some reviewer claims that this book is focused on women and children, but it's not true, every person may fall in abuse by others, but in this situation we have to protect those who are in a negative world like low class reviews. Everyone should read this to realize about humanity and protect innocents from unwanted situation.
